Welcome back to the start of the new academic year, it was lovely to see so many smiling faces and to welcome both familiar and new faces to the Holy Trinity family. I was particularly impressed by our Reception children who coped exceptionally well with their introduction to school. It is always a challenge for both parents and students to re-introduce routine and organisation after the summer holidays – but it does get easier!

I am delighted to see all students from Reception to Sixth Form looking so smart. As you are aware, at Holy Trinity we take a great pride in our uniform as we believe it creates a sense of belonging and promotes a positive attitude. Uniform is also a reflection of the school ethos and the importance and value we have for education. So thank you in anticipation of your continued support in maintaining these high standards.

I always enjoy the start of school after the summer holidays and as I walked round visiting classes and welcoming students, there was an air of anticipation, expectation and hope for the year ahead. We must never forget the optimism of youth and the emerging aspirations if we are to truly ‘inspire’ and ‘challenge’ our students (key words from our mission statement).

Congratulations to our exam groups, 44% A* - B at A level and top in county for results at GCSE English and Maths. Holy Trinity has never been an exam factory and whilst we have high expectations of our students, we place the greater emphasis on the emotional well-being of our students, as it is from within that true potential is unlocked.

I hope to see you all at the Welcome Services tomorrow Thursday 7th September at St George’s Church: Years 1 to Year 6 at 2.15pm and then Senior School at 3.15pm with refreshments back at school in the foyer after each service and also the Welcome evening next Tuesday 12th September. This is an excellent opportunity to meet new staff and establish an understanding of how we can work together in partnership to support the education of our students.

Yours faithfully

Mrs P Leek-Wright Headteacher
