Spanish
Currently we are teaching Spanish as an extra-curricular option. At the beginning of year 10, in addition to studying French, the more able linguists are given the opportunity to follow the 2 year Spanish course. The students are expected to commit to several lunchtime and 1 after school session per week. GCSE Spanish offers the pupils the opportunity to not only learn a new language but to experience the culture of this widely spoken language. They can experience traditions of both Spain and the Latin American continent. The GCSE focuses on 3 themes covering topics as diverse as general Spanish looking at relationships, families, shopping, eating out to the more complex topic of environment and future plans both in education and work. At Holy Trinity students follow the AQA syllabus and can take either Higher or Foundation level exams at the end of year 11.
