School Lunches - (A word from MiQuill Catering)
Here at Miquill catering, our aim is to supply a school food menu that appeals to children and is also healthy. We guarantee that at least 90% of our food is made on site, and menus and meals are calculated to meet nutritional needs.
Our hot menu choices are all familiar dishes, such as spaghetti bolognaise, chicken curry and roast dinners. We hold menu cycles over four weekly periods to ensure variety. The meals are all accompanied with a carbohydrate dish and a choice of vegetables. Our meals are all free from nuts and we can accommodate for any other allergies that children may have.
If a hot meal does not appeal every day, we also offer a range of baguettes, wraps and salads. This tends to be a popular choice in the summer months.
We understand the importance of healthy eating and are always looking for initiatives to help with this. We offer “well done” stickers to children who finish their food, including all of their vegetables. This system has been a big success in the past for the younger children. We also make sure that the kitchen staff, work alongside the teachers to encourage healthy eating in the dining room.
We hold theme days every term. In the past we have created menus linked to specific countries. The theme days provide information in a fun and accessible way about a particular country, such as the language they speak and where the country is located geographically. The kitchen staff wearing clothes linked to the country and decorating the dining hall help to create a fun atmosphere as well as educating the children.
We are always seeking to improve the menus and all round service that we provide so any feedback and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
MiQuill Catering
