World Book Day (WBD) celebrations begin on Tuesday 28th February with D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read). The idea is that whatever a class is doing at a particular time, regardless of subject (with the exception of swimming), they stop and either read independently, with a partner/group or listen to their teacher read.
On WBD, Thursday 2nd March, the concert hall will be decorated in the theme of the 'Great Hall' at Hogwarts ready for prep and senior students to enjoy a mid-morning feast, whilst the Reception Class will enjoy their own tea party in the Upper Prep Library as they celebrating the works of Julia Donaldson.
We have asked parents make a small donation to Book Aid International, with the suggestion being £1 - with donations collected during the morning.
Chef Simon and his team have kindly prepared a book-themed menu that will be served as normal and include yummy things such as Pirate Potato wedges, Roasted Carrot Broomsticks and Magic Polyjuice Jelly Shots!
There will also be a Book Fair selling a range of books suitable for Prep and Senior students. Prep Parents must collect children first and then sign-in at the POD in the main foyer.
The Book Fair will be Open from 3.30pm until 4.45pm on:
Thursday 2nd March
Friday 3rd March
Monday 6th March
Tuesday 7th March
Wednesday 8th March
A Readathon, raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital and our school libraries, will be launched during assemblies, week beginning 6th March - information to follow after half term.
Many thanks for your continued support.
